Three people were shot in the Grand Crossing neighborhood late Saturday night when two gunmen opened fire into a private party and started shooting again as they fled the scene, police said.
Shots rang out about 10:45 p.m. at an event space in the 1400 block of East 75th Street, which had apparently been rented out for a party, police said.
Two male shooters entered the building and started shooting, striking two 20-year-old men, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said, citing preliminary information. One of the men sustained gunshot wounds to the shoulder and leg, and the other was struck in the hand and grazed in the back.
The shooters then ran around the corner, to the 7500 block of South Blackstone Avenue, where at least one of them fired on a 26-year-old woman, who was shot in both legs and the buttocks, Alfaro said.
The men were taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, and the woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Alfaro said.
The Chicago Fire Department listed the two men taken to Advocate Christ in fair-to-serious condition, and it listed the third victim in serious-to-critical condition.
About midnight, people stood under the awning of an apartment building across the street and watched as detectives lingered near the scene of the party. Police had marked off the entrance to the building with yellow tape.
No suspects are in custody, and Area South detectives are investigating.
Police have not yet identified a motive.
